I have had this piece of coral for about 1month now and it doing very well, but I do not know what it is. Please identify.

Looks like a Duncan coral, LPS

Could be a duncan, but I think it might be tubastrea peltata.

OP how big are the polyps?

I would say equal size to my large frag of my button polyps. It seems to be doing well with minimal care. I see it is developing several new shoots from the side of it.

To small then to be Duncanopsammia. Im almost certain it's a fragment of tubinaria peltata.

Looks like I said tubastera in my last post, oops I meant tubinaria.

Google tubinaria peltata and see if you think they are similar

Thank you! It looks like that might be it. The fish store by me has an excellent selection of coral, but their staff isn't the most knowledgeable...

Believe it or not it is actually classified as an SPS coral, they are pretty easy to keep though, good flow, med to high light, you can also spot feed it if you wish, however fish poo and bacteria is all it really needs.

I have it in the center of my tank on a rock. It has become the center piece as when it's open it moves back and forth with the flow. Everything has been good so far with my corals. My tank is at my office so I'm usually there 5 days a week.
