Just want to know what type of clam this is and is it ok to
sit on the sand. I really would like to keep it down there.

Its a crocea clam and you could leave it on the bottom if you have at least 175 watt metal halide lighting. Make sure you put the clam on a half clam shell or a piece of rock so it will attach to it or else it will attach to the bottom of the tank and you will not be able to move it later.

Crocea Clam. Must be on a hard substrate. Most light demanding of all clams, I would recomend getting it higher in the tank.
