Hello,

I recently added this anemone. Unfortunately the previous owner did know what type it was and I was not able to find it online either. He seems to be a brownish color with a goldish color on his side pectoral fins.

Thanks in advance,

Thank you helping me ID...

I did know he was a clown, just wasn't sure of the type of clown because I couldn't find any pictures of his color. Wasn't sure because he looks to be brown with gold/copper along his fins and when i've seen maroon clowns they had gold stripes. I'm a newbie so sorry for the silly questions. Is there a way to tell if this one is male or female? It is about 3" long so I'm thinking it's female from what I've read about the males being smaller. Also, would this clown host a Green Bubble Tip Anemone? When I released him into the tank, I positioned him to swim into it but he went away. I did see him rub into it once but he is now just hanging around a cave.

Give it time. I'm sure it will find the anemone eventually. Bubbletips are the natural hosts for maroons so you have a good pairing.

maroon clownfish.

I always wanted a pair of marrons; but to rare to find. So I selted for 3 clarkii clowns and 2 finally mated up. Gave the 3rd one back to the fish store so it want get hurt.
