What are these purple branch-like things?

It's a wirey algae. I honestly don't remember the name of it. It is a pain to get rid of, but doesn't tend to be too much of a nuisance. Most people have luck getting rid of it with rabbitfish.

I've had it before and just left it...dont really see it ever so i'm convinced that its not bad.

I have a little in my tank. It seems to keep itself under control, but as with anything else, keep an eye on it and don't let it take over.

Mine got to be a bit much so I got a Mexican turbo after doing some research - some people don't like em because they are big and plow around but he has not topped anything over and mows the grass nicely
