Can you help me identify what this is, and how can I get rid of this from my tank? It is a quarter of an inch big and it has spread on the live rock. I know it is not Majano.
thanks

my guess is some type of hydroid.

just not sure which one it specifically is

With the feathered tentacles there I would guess a type of coral. I haven't seen aiptasia with tentacles like that before. It's just weird that it doesn't seem like they are connected to each other like star polyps or encrusting gorgonian would be. Interesting find.

I meant the polyps to each other, not the tentacles to the polyp. It looked like to me that the polyps weren't all part of one big growth.

I'm thinking it could be some type of encrusting gorgonian or something like that.

interesting... i would almost say hydroid but i have never seen them that far apart. my guess is some type of coral such as anthelia

I thought they might be anthelia at first, but those polyps are usually bigger than the ones pictured here.

I could see them being hydriods. I've just never seen such a large outbreak of them.

Actually i believe they are Clavularia because Clavularia polyps are connected by stolons:roots like growths that adhere to the substate.

Anthelia polyps always arise from the basal encrusting mat.

Why do you want to get rid of them? Are they a problem? If so, what are they doing that concerns you? Were you prepared for this interrogation? LOL

lol i dont think i would worry about them they dont bother anyhting in my tank and plus it would be almost imposssible to get rid there survivors
