ID purple coral plz

Thats wierd as hell. If it is rigid, with a hard skeleton it could be a Distichopora or one of the "Lace Coral" species. If thats the case it needs to be fed and is not photosynthetic. Are there tiny little clear hairs in rows coming out out the edges at times? The bad thing with these is that most are already dead when bought. When they die they still retain the color as there skeleton is not white like most other corals.

I've had Distichopora and it didnt look anything like that. Any remote chance its a very unhappy Hydnophora? Can you get some closer pics under 10k light?

I don't have 10K lighthing, the color appears to be blue on the picture but in real life it's bubblegum purple.
A friend of mine did have a pink distichopora (or at least the same coral) for a couple of week, we just had yesterday the purple one to your respective tank. The pink one was place with the acropora since we didn't know the ID, and it bleached. The dead part on the pink one really doesn't look like the new purple on so at least I think it's still alive.
I will look for feeding tentacles but I just had it for less than 24h so time will tell.
graveyardworm, does others pictures might help you to ID the coral ? Do you have any specific angle or close-up that you want me to take ?

The one I had was the purple fan looking type. It didnt have the crevases running through like yours has. The link you provided certainly looks like it.

I had one of thoes, I forget the name I belive a type of Distichopora. I found it really hard to keep and it ended up dieing on me 
was a really nice bright purple tho but hard as anything to keep!

Could it be Fire Coral? Possibly Millepora alcicornis or Millepora tenella? If so, OR, if it's in the Distichopora family, possibly Distichopora vilacea (lace coral) be aware that these can cause healthy stings to you.
In looking through Eric Borneman's Aquarium Corals book, it really looks like it could be one of the above that I mentioned.
