ID? snail?

I have a rock propped up against the back glass spreading my zenia all over the wall and when I moved it to another spot I saw this little guy on the glass. It is about 1/2 to 3/4" long and has a hard back, like a shell in the shape of a oyster or scallop.

This is it on the back glass moving right along...

Here it is in a bowl. The back half of the foot broke off so it is only half as long as it was before...

So... what is it? Is it good or bad? Kinda freaked me out... :lol:
