ID This Algea Please

I need ID on this algea.

This tank has been setup for two weeks now. The tank is a 50g cube with 250w MH. It also has a sump/fuge with cheato in it for nutrient export.

I use RO/DI water, the ro system is brand new from premium aquatics, so the filters in that are fine. The TDS meter is still reading 0.

I run the light for 12hrs. a day on both the tank and fuge.

There is no livestock at all in the tank. I hope this is typical for the cycle. I've never seen algea like either of these before. It grows the best in high flow areas. If there is a way to rid the tank of this LMK.

I have not yet tested the water perameters.

If I left anything out LMK.

Thanks,Eq

thats hair algea and slime algea. that is typical for a tank cycling. it should pass in a coulple weeks. you could syphon it out and scrub it off the rock if you want. also cutting back on the lighting would help too.

Oooh yeah that's some pretty nice slime you got going there! :) I find I get it in my tanks when there is a ammonia or nitrite spike - typical for a cycling atmosphere or if you have something amiss in the bio filtration. It should pass on its own, many algaes are ephemeral little beasts.. they only stick around if you keep the conditions right.

The hair algae ID I'm not so sure about.. no personal experience with that type.

I did a search for hair algea before i posted this, and none of that stuff looked like this.

Gotta love the cycle period. I've never seen this slime algea ever. Its grown like this in one day.
Im going to run the fuge light 24/7 for a few days and see what happens.

Anyone else want to take a shot at ID this stuff?

Thanks

I cant seem to get a good shot of it close up. It looks like a long green feather that grows about an inch a day.

Ill try to get a better pic and see what i can get.
