i got great deal on this ballast.....but what you see is what i got......trying to find out what kind it is so that i can get the socket cords......

no......standard computer cables are recessed on computer with prongs sticking out.......this is just the opposite

My Custom SeaLife metal halide ballast looks just like that. The opposite side has 2 on/off switches. If it is like mine, it will have 3 screws on both of the sides. Just remove remove the cover to expose the ballasts. My unit has 2 m57 ballasts that drive 2 175w halides.

Open it up. It's only wires so you can hook up whatever plug suits your fancy. A heavy duty extension cord will give you both ends to hook up to run the lights.

I'm assuming you at least know what wattage the lights are?

so if i take cover off i can see ballsts........are the ballasts marked with brand ?.....or is just a matter of finding the right cords ?

i would like to get the right cords........i know i can unassemble it and put in whatever connectors i want........but it would be nice to have it like it is supposed to be.......

you will probably have to wire up whatever socket you are going to use, just use the same type of plug that is on the ballast so it will be removeable

Do you at least know what wattage they are? If so you open the case snip the wires and connect the wires from a heavy duty extension cord that you cut in half to the ballast wires. You can then use the other half of the cord to run to the bulb. Use the right size wire crimps and tape them to keep moisture out (the people at home depot should be able to tell you what size crimps)

opened it up.......ballast says venture lighting.......has phone number......i will call tomorrow...... m57 or m 38 at 175W

175 watt metal halide. no need to call them. From the pic you are the proud owner of a dual 175 single ended metal halide ballast. You can change out the plugs to make it fit whatever you wish by going to home depot and buying 2 heavy duty extension cords and crimping them in.

i can rewire ballast.......not a problem......just thought it would be easier to find out what kind and get right cord......cant be that much to keep it the way it came and look good ??

ah, your looking for pretty, not in saving 50 bucks. My mistake for not understanding the question.
