This stuff is growing all over my tank, on the glass and rocks. It is also on some of my coral, killing some zoas. Can anyone tell me what this is and how to get rid of it.

Thanks,
Chris

Here is a picture of the fungus/algae that I was wondering if someone could ID.

Thanks,
Chris

First photo looks like a sponge, and nothing to worry about. In fact it's probably filtering some nutrients out of the water for you.

no clue on the second photo, but if it was green I'd say it was a macro algae.

they are both the same thing. kinda see through but white. It is starting to cover my coral and already killed about half of a colony of zoa's. so i need to get rid of it. i have't been able to find anything under algae for it. have any other ideas?
thanks,
chris

Sponge, I had some of this growing all over the place for a few months, didn't seem to like too much light and for a while I was overfeeding and it all died off, maybe due to bad water quality. You could take the affected rock out of the water and scrub it off.

it is growing in some of the lower flow areas despite my water flow. i've done some water changes this week and have decreased the amount of feeding.
should i leave the light on for a longer period of time?
it is on more than just one rock. it is on almost all of my rocks, and in my refuge, and on some of my coral. :( i will try to get off all that i can without hurting anything.

oops forgot to submit. alright so i cleaned off all that i could and have done another water change. we will see how that does.

Thanks for your help. are their any other ideas on how to get rid of it?
