Just guesses but:

Cerealis

or

Nasuta

If you bring up the pic of nasuta (the close up of the coralite) in a page and put it next to yours it looks almost identical, could be wrong though.

It looks a lot different than my cerealis, but might be able to see some potential for nasuta. Secale and loripes were two others that come to mind (looks quite a bit like a loripes colony I had).

Put it on acgro steves thread for reefer madness to id tonight! He needs more. By the way, perhaps the angle but how close is that anenome to the acgro. Stinging distance?

acro polystoma. ya what up now. nasuta radial coralites are more nariform. these are tubular in shape.

thanks wow guys i looked up everyone of those and im leaning towards the A. polystoma it matches the coralites and branch structure the best IMO

anyone else?

again not nasuta. the coralites are nariform

here is a professional drawing to explain.

Ok so it is small but focus and you can see what I mean.

yeah the coralites to me look different than a natusta acro....

these are more varying and not so "nariform"compare the two

natusta and the polystome and ull see the difference ....

natusta is very uniform and the rows are nice and neat mines more irregular with various sized corralites of a different shape

heres a cleare pic with flash on....

i guess i can see a bit of both the natusta and the polystoma.... gosh these things are hard to get right

either way i like it lol

Hey all,

Just adding my 2 cents that are worth maybe half of that due to inflation :) .

A. gemmifera is a good guess as they have very sharp, shaved radial corallites and from what I can see these are smooth and rounded. This colony also has a Tricolor Color pattern and therefore I believe this is a A. secale.

I hope this helps....

thanks chris!

it does look like that too man its hard to tell what these things are even when they are bigg4er pieces but id have to say im leaning with that A. secale more so now

No problem,

A. secale can really turn into an amazing coral, they require alot of flow and light but if there are given these their entire branch can turn purple with the chartreuse polyps (similar to a A. cerealis but with much thicker branches).

Good Luck with this piece, nice score as well, as this piece did not come from me. I always love a large A. secale colony.
