I have two of these on my chalice frag.. They look like some kind of feather duster but the feathers don't come out just that up side down snail looking thing does

Thx advance

youll get various opinions on good or bad..i say bad..i have watched them suck all the mucus of one of my sps corals daily until it died. from that point on i usually cover them with some putty and crazy glue and call it a day.

Both. They will eat detritus, food, etc. floating in the water column which is good. They will also reproduce like mad, leave slime around them and cut the %*#( outta your hands when handling LR which is bad.

Vermetid snails multiply like crazy, and can quickly become a nuisance. I'd get rid of them at this stage before they get to that level.

Typical pest vermetids are about 1/16" in diameter and the tube is about 1/4"-1/2" long or so. There are much bigger species, but they are not the kind that generally take over LR, or multiply rapidly.
