Ideal reef sand for 400g+ SPS tank

I'll be upgrading from my current SPS tank (155) to 400g shortly and was curious what the ideal reef sand available was.

As most I'm looking for the smallest / whitest grain possible that won't get blown all over the place with 4-6 Vortechs running.

Thanks in advance for sharing your feedback.

Chris the best sand IMO is what I am using in my tank....Doesn't blow around at all...with two waveboxes and four streams.

here is some info on the sand:

* Aragonite sand free of impurities such as ash, metals, and pesticides
* Use Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand to create a safe and beautiful aquarium
* Functional marine substrate increases buffering capacity of your aquarium
Beautiful and versatile Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand is the perfect substrate for reef aquariums. Use as a gorgeous substate or as a functional substrate for nitrate-reducing systems such as Plenum or Berlin systems. Consistent grade aragonite substrate allows for better dissolution of minerals, like calcium and carbonates. The addition of small shells makes it ideal for aquariums with mature jawfish or burrowing invertebrates. 1.0 to 2.0 mm grain.

Hey J. I was looking at that sand. It's bright white under your T5's? If the offer still stands, I need to make a trip out there to see the legendary setup in person. :)

Your welcome out anytime...The sand is not as white as the fine grade sand I have had in the past, but I like it. I would definately not describe it as bright white..

+1 on the CaribSea Seaflor Select - great size, very white, and the sand sifters and wrasses love it.

If you're not in a big hurry, sometimes one of the big box pet stores sell it on their web page and has deals on shipping. (Like free for up to 3-4 bags at a time) Last time I saw that sale was in June, when I bought 10 - 40# bags...

Very nice blond naso in the previous pic...

DrF&S has these for $35 and $5.99 total for all shipping. How many bags would I need for a shallow sand bed? tank will be 92x36x28

you can use the sandbed calculator on the homepage. Just input the dimensions and how deep you want the sand and it will show you. it's pretty accurate.
