Ideas for 2013 meetings .....

Here are current plans:

January - Meeting but details not worked out yet (Dirty Santa theme)
April - Middle TN Frag Swap
September - West TN Frag Swap

Let me know if anyone is interested in hosting a meeting at their house. It will be a time for you to show off your reef. You do not have to provide food for everyone. You just need to let me know the month, day and time you want to host a meeting.

I am also looking for any other ideas you have for future meetings. We can do a meeting where we have a cookout in a city park for lunch for example. I am open for suggestions. Let me know what type of locations you would like to meet at.

You are also welcome to submit any ideas on raffles or general prizes you would like to see added. We may be able to raffle off a couple 29 gallon cubes with stands if that sounds good to everyone. We will try to have a larger prize available twice a year. One will be for the end of year meeting. How does that sound?

Don't be shy. I can't read minds. Let's see some ideas to choose from.

Shame I don't have a big enough house but I do know a great park off of Channing and Stonebridge for a cook out. I think it is called Liberty Garden and it's in a nice part of Jackson.

A couple places that might be nice for a meeting are Catfish Cabin, Sakura, or Cajun Cookers in 3 way. Only thing is they get busy on the weekend. Sakura has a second restaurant in south Jackson called Kanpai ( no, I am not just thinking seafood lol) that is not as packed as Sakura gets.

For raffles, I would love a chance at an ATO kit but those reef nutrition foods were great and I would like to have a chance at them now that I will have some critters in my tank. Loved the chance for frags too. Would love to see a bubble tip given away.

Another great prize would be a Neptune Apex Jr controller.

Don't forget that Union said we could do a Saturday night tour of their tank and facility in February.

Thanks for all the ideas. Catfish Cabin sounds great! My wife doesn't like catfish, so I never get to go. I think someone else mentioned a reef controller as well. Thank you for the input. It will help us plan out the year.

I bet you can secure the back room for our meeting if you talk to Joe.
there is a side door where we can bring in our prizes and Nanocubes (hint, hint)
If you have a date in mind I can talk to him about it.

I love it when people volunteer. It looks like you will be in charge of the Sakura meeting. I can already see that we will have more meetings next year. Did you want to pick a month?
 
How about January?
Can you take a poll of the rank and file and see which date is best for most?
 
I would love if we could do a tour or small trip to the bigger aquariums where maybe the people in charge of the tanks could answer questions ect..

also what if diff people gave small talks on their tanks for instance how to do the foam backing talk with pictures or something like a powerpoint to show how it is done..

talks about the various types of equiptment what it is used for the type available cost ect.. i for one had no clue what a reactor was last night.

give away ideas - gift cards always good, food great, equiptment, tanks, fish, corals, rock

We will do that in February. It will be a 750 gallon setup. We will try to find more. A while back we toured many monster reefs in Jonesboro, AR.

It sounds like Brian will need to take the lead at a future meeting. :thumbsup:

We usually have a topic we focus on at each meeting. We didn't do that last night due to all the raffles and prizes. We can talk reactors soon. Thanks for the input.

Do you have a day in mind? This would be a little change from the restaurants. We could do Sakura in March if you want to host the January meeting. That would work fine.
 
Ok I may have a donation depending on the club members. Everyone if possible go to http://www.digitalaquatics.com/saltwater/systems I may have one of these coming it's a brand new set-up just got to see the interest. I don't think he will give the elite system may give a RKL ( reef keeper light) any questions about this unit I believe Snakeman has a system.

Also guys/girls start one thread of things that you would like to see as raffles and give aways that way I can search for sponsors for each thing and possible get them.

To give ideas am also working with koralia, Nextreef, some of the lighting company's, current USA, JBJ, and so many others. I need ideas cause some ask what I'd like so I do need input on club wants. Some of the ones I can't get I will see about using some club money to obtain the bigger prizes as long as the club approves and we can get some of the funds back on raffles to continue with to purchase what everyone wants to win.
