Ideas for beginner corals w/color

I'm looking for some input on a first coral/couple of corals for my tank.

Vital Stats:
100 gallons with 29g sump
Cycle finished in April 2015
Reef Octopus 150INT skimmer
Jebao RW-8
Koralia Evo 1400 gph
1 36" 4 bulb T5HO
1 BlueNova LED

I want something with a little bit of color - my tank looks kinda drab right now. Where would be the best place to start with placement? I tried to buy a mushroom and some polyps from an online company, but the mushroom was DOA I think since I couldn't find it, and the polyps never opened and I am pretty sure they were DOA too. Or an anemone? I don't know.

Zoas are easy to keep, forgiving with water values and don't need bright lights. Some have a melting problem so check out the Internet before you buy.

I also like sinularia. Not extremely colorful but brings in some movement and interesting shape.

Briareum are also forgiving. Make sure you place them without strong direct flow. You can get some bright green variants. Very nice movements.

Zoas were what I started with. Moved up to euphyllia a couple weeks after. They seemed relatively easy for just starting and the colors are all over. ;)

If you buy online, make sure you double check there DOA guarantee. Ricordea's are great. I've had much better luck with them than typical shrooms. Zoa's can also do good.

My Acan lord has proven to be easy and almost indestructable it was the first coral I added and has grown and rewarded me by putting on lots of new heads

Acan lords are on the easier side of LPS to keep and can have some amazing colours, also plating montipora which will fill a lot of space in not too long and are cheap (red, purple, green). Also zoas and ricordeas have endless colour combinations along with other types of mushrooms ^^^ good choice. And there's Candy cane as well...

I'm not knocking acans, but they are such slow growers in my tank. I'm not a big coral feeder at all. Maybe that has something to do with it. They are nice looking though.

Acans, Zoas, LPS. Rainbow acans are awesome. Rasta, utter chaos, fruitloops, hornet zoas, sunny D. are all colorful. Zoas is a good place to start with. Good luck and remember patient is the key to reefing!
