ideas for far away tank pick up?

I am looking to pick up a full 60 gal tank/stand/sump/hood setup this weekend just over the indiana border and have decided woefully that my little civic hatchback does not have the space to make the trip. Anybody have any ideas for how to solve this one? rental companies of preference or perhaps other reefers that will accept cash and coffee (i work for an amazing local coffee roastery and will keep you supplied for a good long time if you wish) and future frag love contributions to help on this epic journey to obtaining a sweet O tank? i am checking rentals right now but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
mike

Easiest way of going about this would be to rent a full size car or SUV from Avis or hertz. they will charge you 50 to 100 per 24 hours. but you have unlimited mileage. Or you could go to home depot or menards and rent one of thier trucks. But Im not sure if they charge you mileage.

I live in Ukranian Village (just south of wicker park) at Damen and Augusta. about 5-10 min from the loop/downtown. I dont have his address yet but he says its just over the indiana border about a 45 - 60 min drive.

You might check the dimensions....I fit my 60 gal in the back seat of my Chevy cavalier. I didn't think it would fit, but I checked the dimensions and low and behold it fit.

Another reefer close to hear got his 90 in the back of his small car. It was a little tight, but it fit and came in and out.

get the dimensions of the tank, i might be able to fit it in the back of the mitsubishi eclipse im driving right now, the rear seats fold and the rear hatch area is pretty deep. get me dimensions and ill be glad to help if it fits.

Call UHaul and rent one of their vans. I think it's 20 bucks a day plus milage.
I've seen this tank, it's not small and the stand is bigger, probably 3" wider than the tank. I would think both of you driving separate cars could get it or a van would be best.

Nice pick up on the tank Isvagabond! I'm sure you'll like it a ton!

This is the reason I drive a truck. LOL. I'd rent a truck from hertz. If I wasn't busy this weekend, I would have driven down there with ya in my truck. Sorry.

Thanks for all the ideas gang. The help lifting would be nice nmprisons, when I get the details sorted I'll see if your available. I have been trying to find uhaul on the web but i keep ending up at budget sites. Everything i have been able to track down is still going to be around $100 with mileage. I was hoping to do it for less than that. I would really like to fit it in my car but the owner says my hatch back simply will not work... if i could do it in two trips i would be happy to, but i think the stand might just be to big. These are the dimension for the stand (total with trim and all)--35Lx28Wx31H. I am now aiming to go and get it sunday morn (unless some miraculous last minute thing happens tonight) so we will see what i can round up by then.

yeah, just found uhaul and it $20 for the rental but then a buck a mile which will leave it up at $100... wheres superman when you need em. Oh yeah and newschool, that red monti frag you gave me over the summer is looking amazinging, cant wait to get a tank that shows it off :)

Hey everyone. I just talked to him and he seems to think that it should be able to fit into two cars, just not one. So if anyone is up for it, PM me with your number. I am heading out there tomorrow after 9 in the morn when the banks open. If you have a car and want to help feel free, if not i'll just do a double trip and still be a very happy man. thanks again everyone

well if it was for sunday i would be up for it, tomorrow i cant since im working just let me know.

If he lives anywhere near Cedar Lake Indiana, I'd be happy to bring it into the city (I work downtown 6 days a week) for ya. I have a SUV that fits a 180+ stand (if I clean out the back! LOL!). You'd just have to meet me about Lake and Western...

what about a uhaul trailer? there is no mileage charge there. which I had a car that could help ya....my little vw would not be much help.

I would rental a moving van size. that has heating in back for the full 60 gal . you need 50 gal trash cans for live items with air pumps. {battery type}. that would make it two 50 gal trash tank and other thing.an do to outside air temp.

randal.. im the seller. that is mighty nice of you to offer. i sent you a pm. im sure vagabond will get back to you when he figures out what he is going to do

Shoot, sorry to get back late on this. I got way off track with work stuff.
If you can pull that off randal and its okay with newnano I would be super grateful. I'll check with him and get back to you as soon as i can.

I go an f150 and I'd be willing to help also. I work on the south side and I'm on afternoons. As long as it is early I could help. I'm only 10 minutes from where the seller is.
