Ideas for October meet

Could someone do a demo about making an aquaclear..??? (can't remember model) into a refugium using eggcrate, live rock, macros, and a slip on light or something? I saw this somewhere, and it seemed to REALLY work well. I'm planning to do this for my up and coming H. brevicep tank. Should be fun.

Heck, i'll do it if someone provides the AquaClear, lol.

I think this would really be a good idea. I am interested in the same thing. I would also love it if someone could speak about, and explain, how a refugium works and so on, what lights will work the best...

If anyone out there knows how to DIY kalk doser, that would be very helpful. Also, explaining the mix, dose...
If we could get some DIY people to show us some things, to save money, that would be very benificial.

DIY does not necessarily mean that it is cheaper, sometimes it just means it works better. Most DIY projects I have done have not been much less than buying the items out right. Especially, when it comes to reactors if you want them made out of acrylic.

I'll donate a Seclone skimmer if anyone wants to demo mods. I don't know how to do them, but you can use my skimmer to show everyone.

Maybe when finished it could be a door prize.

How to convert an Aquaclear 500 into a hang-on refugium

Like we posted in another thread, I think if Mary and I bring in our non-operational calcium reactors and get those up and running, I think we could help the club as a whole as far as these devices go. I'll bring mine in...
Chris ask Matt or Ron if this is doable or not. I know when I set my reactor up it wasn't something that could be done during a meeting. It might be nice to bring them in anyway. I imagine several members would like to see one and hear how they (are suppose to) work. What's wrong with your's anyway?

Since we have members new to SPS maybe a talk about the relationship between Alkalinity and Calcium if they're interested.

I think i have a hang on filter that is big enough. I'll look tomorrow and see. I don't know if it's an aquaclear but it should work as it's designed the same. I used a Cascade 300 to build mine.

Okay I have a hang on pump. I don't think it's a 500 model but it's all yours if you want it. I've even got some plexi that I can cut for it. All you will need to do is bring the glue.

Are you serious? Gee, thanks!!! I hope to be at the Oct. meet, but it's too far away to know what im doing.

What kind of glue should I bring?
