Ideas to finalize fish stocking list?

I am getting close to finishing my fish quota for the current tank. Total system consists of 150 gallon DT, 40 gallon sump and a 20 gallon remote fuge. Tank is (or supposed to be) SPS dominated with a few LSP, some polyps, 2 RBTA and 2 clams.

Current fish residents are:

  • 2 semi-picasso clown fish
  • 2 Lyretail Anthias (1 male and 1 female)
  • 5 chromis
  • 1 Hippo tang
  • 1 Powder Brown tang
  • 1 Yellow tang
  • 1 Orange spotted goby
  • 1 Hector's goby
  • 1-3 Red stoplight cardinals (cryptic fish that I very seldom see
  • 2 Kaudern's Cardinal fish

Don't think my bio-load is any problem yet and there might be room for some more fish. Thought about a couple of more gobies and possible some other smaller fish that like to swim around the rock work. Any suggestions?

Possum wrasses or pink streak wrasses are small and hug the rocks. Royal grammas are underrated just because they are common. I'd personally get rid of the blue tang as it grows.

Wrasses are nice, as there are many colors and most are really active swimming in and out of the rock all day. Chromis is kinda hit or miss, I have seen tanks with a group but a lot of times they end up going highlander and killing each other till there is only one. Also just from what I have read it is better to have groups of three anthias, Males can chase the females a bit and if there are at least two females the attention is spread out and neither get overly stressed.

I used to have a group of three anthias, one male and two females. Some time ago one of the females decided to abandon the ship. Have thought about replacing it but never got to it.

I didnt even read the part that said current stock. If a pair is working good for you. SO you have currently have 5 chromis? did you loose any when you started or was it always 5, so many times you hear that the smallest of the group gets picked on and the eventually die. I tried 4 in an 75 and the big ones killed the smaller two pretty fast, I added two others that were the same size and the new comers got terrorized so after that I let the two be happy.

The 5 chromis I got are all the original ones I got. Bought them together from LiveAquaria.com. Had them in my QT for 6 weeks together and they have been in my DT since Sunday so not that long. So far they all look friendly but time will tell. Bought them with the knowledge that they may turn against each other.

I may get another female anthias just to keep them all happy in the future. Will look into wrasses too. Any specific ones that adds color and personality? I used to have a Filamented Wrasse but it decided to abandon ship.

I would suggest a fairy or a flasher wrasse, both are active and colorful-just find one you like. I have a orange back fairy and his colors are great and he's a very active swimmer - defiantly recommend one of these:D

I haven't got a decent pic of him yet so I got this off live aquaria. mine has alot of turquoise and purple which is a nice change from all the red fish avaliable.

Edit: The two attached pics are of mine (the pics are out of focus because it's not easy photographing a constantly moving subject) they don't do his colors justice.

Thanks!

I agree with you about fish with red colors. One day I looked at the tank and realized that most of the fish I had at that time were red. Have since then added some other colors as well.

No, I have held off on any new fish purchases for now to get the tank perfectly stable. Still deciding what to get though. Probably a couple of wrasses and maybe another goby or two. No more big fish.
