Identification Help!!

Can someone please identify the brown and rust colored what looks like some type of macro algae (see attached pictures) that has slowly started to cover my rock? Secondly, if someone can identify it, is it going to be harmful if left unchecked? Third, unless it is extremely beneficial, I would prefer to have it removed, so is there a safe and easy way to do that without totally disrupting my rock structure? Any help is appreciated.

Post this in the macroalgae forum. I've seen what you have before, and believe that it's a royal PITA, so you'll want to get rid of it ASAP.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like peyssonelia. Some people don't like it, buy I don't mind it. It's a soft, calcareous, coraline algae that flourishes in tanks with calcium reactors.

Naso tangs eat it, but invertebrates don't seem to care for it.

Thanks. I'm going to try to take some closer pictures and post them later, but your description matches perfectly.
