Identification Help

Does Anyone know what this is, it popped up in my tank about a month ago and it is growing pretty steady.

It almost looks like they could be mushrooms

It's a type of red algae. Not sure the name though.

people on reefcentral will buy algae like that, if you want to sell it.

I actually love it, I just was not sure what it was, red algae makes sense

Looks like an ulva sp. macro algae. Maybe???

Not sure of the name either but i woudl agree and say its a red algea but others will confirm for you, i have some in my tank and it grows like weeds. but it adds some texture and colour for a new tank, so thats why i have it, but i think as soon as my corals grow ill have less and less of it in my tank.

I find some of it floating in the tank from time to time and scoop it out.

Definately red algae, but dont feel bad about id'ing it as mushrooms -an411- I went to a LFS and the guy was trying to sell a patch of that about a quarter of that size as red mushrooms for $55!!!! It's growing in my tank in a couple spots, but my freshly added tang will probably remove it. As for fragging, just rip as large of a chunk that you can get and get it in a very low flow area with some very porous rock. It will attach eventually
