I would think it would not be able to catch the shrimp since they are active at night too. Fish that sleep on or in the sand bead are easy targets. Mine could move pretty fast when it wanted to.

Mantis Shrimp have the quickest strike in the animal kingdom. I have yet to hear anyone say theirs couldnt catch a crab.
