Hay!

Anybody know what this is growing on my rock through the polyps?
I think it's a type of macro algae? Any specific info would be great,

Thanks!!

Nothing wrong with it other than it not being the best looking macro out there. Should be easy to remove if you don't want it.

It can easily get invasive. In the case of most macro algae, if it died in your tank, if it went sexual, then spores are planted and when triggered, they will grow. One member on Austin Reef Club had a beautiful display of this macro. One year after it went sexual, emerging starts came up thru mushroom rock. The macro took the rock from the mushroom. Considering that your polyps are fairly invasive, it may suit your purposes. Personnelly, I think this Sargassum makes a nice display. Prune it frequently to control it.

Thanks for the advice.
Glad to hear its nothing nasty!
I do like the idea of it added something different to the tank, like the texture. But will take your advice of pruning it regularly to keep it at bay.

Thanks again guys.
