Identify this please!

Hi all,
I am new to the hobby, have had me tank running about two and a half months and found this in my tank.


I just found two of these in the tank, and every time I come near it with a toothbrush, it sucks itself in. The tube is very hard like a shell. Any ideas?

looks like tube worm harmless filter feeder.

I retract my first answer, I think its a vermetid or tube snail and they can irritate corals.

From the small tips at the end, it does look like a tube snail like jrozzi said. Do you have any pictures of it fully exposed? If it appears similar to a feather duster then it is harmless and probably a tube worm - harmless.

Thats as exposed it gets. I'll keep watching if anything changes.
