I got an SPS frag from a fellow reefer..... I have no idea what it is... but it was brown when I got it... does this mean it needs more light? Less light? How can I make it color up? All of my other SPS are amazing colors!

I would just put it in with the other sps and give it time. With proper water conditions, a little good luck and some simulated sunlight, it should color up and grow.

Or it could naturally be a brown one. If one takes JEN Veron's "Corals of the world" and looks the number one color , by far, for acroporas ( and corals in general) is brown or some shade of brown.

very true, good point. it could also be a bright blue stag. I love it when that happens.

That's why motto is to "Only buy the brown ones. " They are cheaper and who knows what you will get and if they stay brown, what did you expect, it was brown when you got it.

Almost all sps lose their color during shipping and reacclimation. They color up. I have the best luck with 10K mh.
