If formalin is used, is the tank now fish only?

Are you referring to the old myth that a tank somehow absorbs copper? If so, this is nonsense; I think it goes back to the days of metal frame tanks and a black sealant of some sort. Glass and the silicone used to make a tank won't absorb much of anything. Wipe down with vinegar and rinse well. Then its safe for anything. Read the next to last Q&A at Seachem.com, the Cupramine page. The same applies to formalin. If you used formalin with LR or substrate, that's another problem. FWIW: I've used enough copper in my 55 gal QT to kill an elephant. Copper testing will reveal no measurable amount of copper.

cool thanks, i am planning on a 20 gal. QT with a skimmer, HOB filter w/UV, bubbler, heater, dim shop light, ammonia badge thing

Just wanted to know in case I had to use the copper or move the other equipment to another tank.

agreed w/the aboves-and fwiw, formalin breaks down fairly quickly in water w/ nothing but aeration/circulation-iirc, most of it's gone after 4 hrs or so :)
