Not sure if I'm going with a shallow sandbed or barebottom in my 125 gallon reef I'm 'almost' ready to fill with water. I've read quite a bit on barebottom tanks, plus's and minuses, so this is not a 'which way should I go' question. I'm just trying to get a bit more info on the 'correct' way to set up a barebottom tank, if I decide to go that way.
One of the things I am confused about is the use of a refugium in a barebottom system. Should one not be used at all, should one be used with a barebottom and macroalgea, or should a 'full' fuge be set up with DSB, etc. Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated!
