Well I'm the idiot that never listens to that saying! I've never really had much issues with nitrates or phos, but with all this bio stuff I'm like a kid who just cant leave it alone! I started the NPX bio plastics in my phos ban 150 last sunday removing my carbon and phos media. I have lps, soft and sps in this system, so I have always used carbon to fight chemical warfare and the fact that most of my corals come from all different parts of the ocean ( a fact most of us forget when selecting corals) I find carbon a life saver. Well throw that out the window with these bio plastics. Im 7 days in and so far no changes and no death!!!!! My Mag dropped a little but not much. In my frag system I'm gonna try the prodibio and actually follow the directions! Curious to see what happens. Let me know if anyone has had success with these plastics! Happy reefing!:wavehand:

I believe Poolkeeper1 from the MTRC website runs a similar product named EcoBak there is a current thread there that is really helpful I was curious in this same area let me know how it works out for you

There are several flavors of this product made by several companies... any of them offer any hard science on their claims (ie. denitrification at anaerobic surfaces within the pellets?). Seems like a good way to dose added carbon (and save the vodka for the martini glass). But if you've got to dose vodka than you're already in the treatment stage and not the prevention stage.... better to prevent build up of nitrates and phosphates rather than treat their overproduction .
