This isnt really related to the Roe's duncan but I thought since we took some pics (kudos to kevin for knowing how to work his insane camera) here's a pic of the ORA duncan with babies! (it totally got camera shy and hid when we tried to get pics.. I think it caught some pellet when we were feeding the foxface to get him out of the pic)

One of my one polyp frags just sprouted three babies all at once...all from the cut sides.

If you frag them, don't mount them on the cuts, that's where the best growth occurs in my opinion, followed by right next to the polyp head. Just my experiences

Yeah on my Roe's im definitely seeing babis grow out of the "wounded" areas from fragging.

I am wondering, why are my polyps tentacles on the fat side when the one in the pic above looks way more like th skinnier kind dendrophyllia get?

Mine spread out and have decent extension, just stay puffy or chubby

I might be able to frag one off for you in the future but the key is to let the baby become totally indepandant of the mother and on its own stalk.. Takes a little while to grow out is all (yet the babies form so fast! its really a treat to watch them grow!)

You know if you do decide to frag, Craig, if you wouldn't mind sometime I'd like to see how you do it with something like a Duncan. I can do easy stuff like softies but I haven't the courage nor the right dremmel bit to attempt anything beyond that...

I like it when things grow all over a rock and you can cut the rock up and not the coral :)

Me neither...Been waiting for Marcye to help out, but I've been waiting months now...Might just take the ideas Russell gave me and roll with them.

I might have one or two I'll be fragging pretty soon...I'll keep you informed.

HOORAY!!! lol

Thanks to this thread, Brannon became obsessed with Duncans. So thanks guys for adding to his already growing addiction :D LOL

Hey Guys. I'm new to Duncan Corals. Although I got my hands on a large colony of White with yellow centers of about 30 heads and fragged them and sold them to friends. I also have a mother colony of 47 heads and sold that colony to a LFS. I still have a colony of 11 heads that are doing great!

I don't know too much about them but they do great on being fed mysis, cyclopeze and this new stuff I'm trying called Arcti-Pods. My question is, should I place them up top near the bright halide lights or should I place them in medium light and medium flow? It seems it opens up larger when the light is not so bright. Any suggestions?

BTW, how many color variations of Duncans are there?

Not sure on how many colors.
I have mine in the sand bed, and they look great. Popping babies.
They get variable flow. Sometimes it's light to none, and sometimes it's heavy.
Here's a couple of pic of mine. With and without flow on them.

Well so far from Roe's we've seen yellow purple.. light green and a mix of all 3.. ORA has the really BRIGHT green ones and i've seen some green\blue ones on ebay but never tried them

I am really wondering why my tentacles stay chubbier than those.. I also noticed, and it could just be my imagination or the LED light of the flashlight I was using but my roe's yellow's babies are having a little green in them.. but I really only notice it at night. i'll look again in the day now that they are getting bigger and see whats up
