if you have a nitrate problem read this

Or you could have put in a plenum and never have a nitrate problem...

Current tank (225) = running 16 months, nO3 always "0"

Previous tank (125) = ran 11 yrs with "0" nitrates.

:D

well my idea wasn't too put the old sand back at all. I want to get some real ocean sand from tampa bay saltwater company. maybe get like 20 to 40 pounds first and see how that goes. I know it would have way more bacteria to help the tank out. but as of now my tank is growing coraline algae nicely which it never did before. I also added a koralia 7 and 8 with 2 koralia 4's in the back. so I feel like I have enough flow, but I want to replace the 4's with another 7 and 8. Has anybody tried the live sand from tampa bay saltwater before? and what is a plenum?
as for my eel and the rest of the survivors. they are doing great and do not plan on adding anything else for a long time.
