Check out the Olympus Stylus 1030SW @ $350. 10.1MP 2.7in lcd screen. and its water proof aka "put it in the tank"

That is a neat camera, but I vote for the Canon G9.

I used to have a Canon G3 (young cousin of G9) and it was a great camera. The image quality was great, although a little bigger than an average P&S. It broke after years of use and now have a Canon SD870is.

The new camera is cool and is a great P&S... but the image quality and level of manual control on the G3 was better . I would say go for the G9 if you don't mind it being a little bulky (not a pocket camera).
