I have been doing saltwater reef keeping for awhile. I did the macro algae thing and loved it. But trying to work 90 hrs a week and maintain two tanks and two dogs and a relationship with the lady was just too much. The something that had to give was the macro tank.

this was it

At the time it was a good thing to see it go, but after awhile and things died down and work resumed at a manageable 60 hrs a week I missed it a bit. I still have my 150 gal reef, but Ive maintained a 20 gal fuge. It hasn't always been pretty. neglected with a cheap ballast growing cyano and hair algae.

but i was able to keep some of my macros from the old tank going. But now after a few local reef keepers expressed interest in maro I have decided to run a macro tank. It wont be on the scale it once was, but I hope I can inspire people to try plants again.

Here is what i have, thanks to a friend I received some rubble to aqua scape. I got a lumatek ballast to light the system right. Old ballast is junked. New tunze pump to keep things moving a a decent pace. It is tied into my main sump with a home made overflow to save space. A bulkhead with a 90 pvc piece notched and supplied main system water from an old power head.

today's benchmark. I hope to have at least an update once a month when things get rolling along well.
