I'm having trouble with a Kodak camera.

It's actually my mom's camera. I think you just buy the Kodak name with this one. I have a friend who had the same problem.

It seems it will not download photos on anything but the cheap software it came with. And from the software you can't save pics to the desktop or anywhere else.

HELP!!

Are you connecting the camera to the computer to transfer the pics? If so, it's possible the camera will show up as a drive on your computer. With the camera connected double click on the My Computer icon and see if there's a new drive listed.
Another question- what kind of cards does the camera use (compact flash, sd, memory stick, etc.)? I always recommend people use a cardreader- they're cheap and easier and faster than using the camera. I know that doesn't help right this minute...

Okay, I connected the camera to my new computer with Windows Vista. I was able to download photos to Windows Photo Gallery and from there to my desktop.

It looks like I'm in business again!

I press the shutter button down half way for focus and light adjustment and this is what I got.^

I'd love to know what the shutter speed was- it's odd though because as far as I can tell there's nothing in the shot that is in focus except perhaps the lid of the tank. Normally I'd guess the blurriness was caused by camera shake but I'm not convinced it is. It could be that the autofocus was hunting while the picture was being taken [the focus shifted], or perhaps there is something wrong with the lens [knocked out of whack]. Does it take sharp pictures outdooors?
When you press the shutter button halfway and the focus locks on does the picture look sharp in the lcd?

Oh, I was answering the wrong question.
When I press the button halfway down it does look out of focus.

How are the photos turning out with the tripod? One thing to try is pressing the shutter button halfway and then wait for the focus to lock on- wait til you see the image become in focus in the lcd, then press the button the rest of the way [without jiggling the camera].

The tripod is helping a lot. The camera shake icon doesn't come on now. The focus is bettter, however all the pictures have a blue tinge. ?

For color trouble [blue tinge] you want to work on the white balance setting. Does that camera have a manual wb setting? You should also try the flourescent wb setting, and while you're at it, give the other wb presets a try and see what works best.
