I'm new! 37g with live rock from TBSaltwater

This is my very first saltwater tank so please forgive me for not knowing all of the nomenclature or everything about this hobby. I've spent a long time researching including time spent here. I'm pretty sure I have the basics down.

With that said, I'm waiting impatiently for my water to clear after adding Richard's sand and rock. The sand came with a couple of gobies (I'm guessing they're gobies--they've only peeked out a couple of times), hermit crabs, snails, teeny-tiny crab the size of a tick. I definitely need more sand.

The rock is so cool. I didn't want to keep it out of the water for any amount of time so I only inspected it in the bags and I can't see it in my tank yet. I'm probably the worst person at identifying neat things so you'll have to wait for me to catch up.

Anyway, thanks for reading and your comments/suggestions/questions are definitely welcome as I'm hoping this forum will help me learn even more and will be here as a resource if I run into trouble.

wow - so you got some hitchhiker fish with the sand and rock? or were they part of "the package?" please post some photos of the rock and hitchhikers

They were hitchhikers for sure. When I pulled the bag of sand out of the box one of them was kind of beached and then putting the sand in to the tank another was swimming frantically up the bag instead of out.

I'll post pictures as soon as it clears up (it's getting there). I'm noticing a lot of little feather duster worms on one rock.

I got my live rock from TBS and had over 80 feather dusters on 3 or 4 rocks. Lots of crabs....not all of them good but a couple of porcelain crabs.

No surprise here. TBS are known to guaranteed to have hitchhikers in LR. They use aquacultured rock. I've heard some folks getting octopus, mantis shrimps, corals, feather dusters, sponges, fish, inverts, etc...

Here's some pics! I've never photographed a fish tank before. Feel free to ID things for me :frog:

I'm interested in finding out what the big green squeaky toy looking thing is attached to this rock:

And this rock has something stuck to it that's kind of yellowish, ball-like with hair-like protrusions

Feather duster worm and right next to it are cone-shaped things that are opening and closing

The goby seems to have beef with the hermit getting close to his hiding place

Something else

And what's neat is my husband wasn't sold on this idea and this morning he calls me from work because he had been watching the tank before he left and when he got to work he started googling things he had seen.

I know I'm talking to myself here, but he's a blenny not a goby. He's funny to watch checking me out checking him out.
