IM Skim Mate Micro Bubbles

I have an IM Nuvo 38 with a Skim Mate installed in one of the filter basket chambers as shown in their installation manual and have concerns, and ask if anyone else has these issues and know how to correct.

1) The Skim mate passes micro bubbles into the main tank, I have contacted IM customer service, done everything they recommend, including adding additional sponges in both the filter chamber and pump chamber in an effort to adsorb the micro bubbles, no help. I have tried every adjustment, water flow from the pump, height of the unit in the sump and airflow. Replaced the pump in an effort to rule out a defective impeller producing excessive bubbles, still no resolution of the micro bubbles. The unit does the job intended, in fact it is easy and effective to adjust to achieve a nice skim action. The micro bubbles in the tank look like a soda bottle shaken violently in the tank, I cant imagine this is the way to run this unit.

2) Filtration, when the filter basket is eliminated to make room for the skim mate, the filtration system is significantly reduced in capacity, in fact completely inadequate.

IMHO,it seems like the consumer is doing R&D for Innovative Marine, I have extensive experience with aquariums, have been out for some time, but decided to start the hobby again and was intrigued by the simplicity of the AIO (all in one) design and hopes of a simpler maintenance.

I continue to seek a solution if anyone has any suggestions I am receptive to ideas.

I have the same skimmer in a Nuvo 30 and the thing works like a beast. It fills the cup in a couple of days. No micro bubbles in the tank tho, only bummer is its a little noisy. How long have you had it running? Mine took a very long time to break in, like 3 weeks. If the skimmer is not fully broken in, it will definitely let some micro bubbles out.
