Important fish question

Hello,
I was wondering about this fish for sale.

I am planning on buying it, but want to make sure I have the correct parameters and environment. I have a 75 reef, and 29 nano, not sure which it will go in yet, but I was wondering what kinds of food they eat. It says ghost shrimp, but can they also eat guppies? I dont have a ready supply of ghost shrimp, and didnt know if they go for frozen, or if they can eat other live goods more readily available.

Thank you for your e-mail. Although the Angler featured on our Diver’s Den has been eating live Ghost Shrimp while in our care, it can also be given live or frozen Silversides. We would not recommend live Guppies, as they may not provide adequate nutrition for the fish.

Just out of curiosity, what else do these fish eat? Am thinking of possibly putting one in a normal 20g.

Lots of LR necessary? 1" sanbed adequate?

Do you get them in smaller sizes? Are they fast growers?

Thank you for your additional questions. As stated above they are fed live Ghost Shrimp in our facility. It is possible if another small fish in an aquarium swims close to the angler they will consume them as well. Anglers can also be given live or frozen Silversides as per our recommendation. We recommend quite a bit of live rock for the Angler to perch on the rock. One inch sandbed will be adequate for these fish. The rate fish grow will depend much on the water conditions and the specific fish itself. We apologize we are unable to determine how fast they will grow for you. We often have the smaller anglers approximately 1” at our California facility.

Are anglers ever in the same tanks as say a medium sized puffer?

Do anglers swim in the water column, or are they mainly bottom dwellers/stuck on/around rock?

Can two anglers be had in one 20g tank?

Thank you for your post. We would only recommend housing one Angler in a 20 gallon. When Anglers are house together they may become very aggressive towards one another. When adding two Anglers to one tank we would recommend a 50 gallon aquarium or larger, as they may be less territorial in a larger space.
