Recently I have seen a couple posts about Osmolator defects. Today I receieved two such supposedly defective units back and find there is nothing wrong with them. Please, follow the instructions and remember that it is normal for the pump to operate for 10 seconds after detecting contact with the water, this slight overfill prevents the pump from switching on so frequently. Further, a new osmolator has a plastic optical sensor. The same way your skimmer or even a new tuperware container beads and repels water such a phenomena can occur with a brand new sensor. A slight film of air tricks the sensor. Before assuming it is defective, rinse the sensor in soapy water and then run it under a stream of warm water. This will eliminate the surface tension issue that causes this problem.
