Improve male blue jaw trigger coloration

I killed ALL that Coral!
I've had a male for about 6 months. Model citizen, social, great fish overall. His colors are very dull and drab. I'd like to improve his colors and I've read they can color up with the presence of a female. So I'm considering adding a female, but I'd like to hear from anyone that has experience with this situation.

Thx

That is the only way to get males to look better. Most everyone reports this in male blue throats. A female should help but it may not be a long term solution

Thank you Dmorty, I've seen others mention problems long term but never see them described. What are the risks?

Risks? None that I'm aware of other than if you get a female that's close in size to the male they may both end up male.

there is zero way to guarantee his color returns, zero guarantee he will accept a female and become a stud male...this story is repeated all the time with bt...still my least fav trig and this is why, additionally, they can be very shy fish...so many other great trigs to choose from...

So is it better to have a female smaller than the male or vice versa?

I've had 2 males and both lost the vivid blue/yellow coloration over time, maybe something in the natural diet causes the color, still very cool fish with great personalities once they get established

The bt is my fav. Trigger and ideas like to have a pair in my 210g. So I will ask the question again. Better to have a larger male or a larger female.
