In tank Propagation?

I have this little toadstool that i bought a while ago. However my power head shadows his entire body. I want to know can i just cut him off at the base of the stalk while still in the tank? If you can tell in the second picture, he is on a very large structural rock and i would not want to tear stuff apart.

Also if i am able to frag in the tank, can i cut the stalk to be shorter so that its easier to place on a piece of rubble? Or should i leave it as is.

I had a toadstool on a rock that I wanted to move.
Took the rock out of the water and with a hammer and a chisel was able to chip off a piece of rock with the toadstool attached.
That's how I would do it.
If you want, just cut it at the stalk and rubberband it to some rubble.

you can cut it where ever you want... i had one that partially grew on a rock and when i took it off it ripped a little and left a small spot on that rock... couple month later that one grew into a new toadstool
