My Wife and I are trying to figure out how to frame in our tank. I need some help deciding what looks cool and different. I've seen some cool in-wall setups, however I wanted to start a thread that people could get some really creative ideas thru some pictures.
Here is a front view of NexDog's awesome Japan.reef, just to get an idea of framing that I'm talking about.

Hope you don't mind me finding pictures of other reefers in-wall setups but here is another picture of framing that I'm talking about.

so no one wants to show off their tank? I need pictures to show wife. That's the only way I can succeed with her!!!

Here is (was) my 240 Gal... I am currently rebuilding the entire system, I demolished all the drywall down to the floor. The new design has dry-stack stone around the base, an oak ledge and the top cap will be the same dry-stack stone trimmed off with oak crown moulding. I will have to take pics... Just finished staining the oak, will be applying the clear coat this weekend followed by the stone by next weekend.

Here is my onld tank.

I really like being able to access the tank from the front and back so I went with the doors.
Hope it helps,

It's all about the door panels...simple, easy to use, just cut and paste. ;)

Okay, maybe not that simple...

I haven't gotten to this step but I plan on framing my 215 in wall with brushed aluminum.

Crown molding looks nice but I want something different, more sleek and sharp.

This will also match the plasma TV that will be hanging next to it.

I hope it turns out as good as it sounds.

Wow BJJ...thanks for those pictures.

Some many decisions. Anyone have any comments on this one and how to go about getting that stone look.

ktkreegs,

I really like the texture stone adds, I just picked up the cultured stone over the lunch hour... infact the color is some what similar to the photo from ATMs gallery. The rock I am using is Eldorado Stone "Nantucket stack stone".

I tried searching the internet looking for photos of other tanks using rockwork around the base, thats the only one I found.

Forgot to mention, I would recomend using a form of stone veneer apposed to using real stone for 2 reasons

lighter in weight about 75% lighter than stone

Way cheaper and easier to install. You can use std PL400 construction adheasive using a caulking gun. any cheap miter saw will cut the stone (you will have to buy a $6 masonary blade)

Here are the two major mfgs of cultured stone.

Funny you guys posted a pic of that ATM tank. I was the subcontactor who installed it. Its in a dentist waiting room in west Las Vegas. I didn't do any of the outside rockwork, just the aquarium install. I think that they put up a wood frame and built the rock up inside the frame by stacking it and using cement or some other adheasive to glue it to the wall.
