In wall tank question...type of wall finish

I spent so much effort on sound-proofing the walls that I couldn't do the door thing. It dos make it harder to keep clean though. I need to invent a remote control glass scraper. Better yet, back in the 80's my parents had a "robot" that cleaned their pool. That would be sweet for aquariums! :D

I am second guessing ot having any acsess doors on the front side, and only on the back side. Since acsess to the top will only be through an acsess doors and not through an equipment room.

TIMMYE: I cannot emphasize enough the need for FULL access to your reef. You must be able to get to every square inch of it or maintanence will be a total PITA.

Agree 100%!!

I did my new inwall similiar to jnarowe in that I have 5" ledge around the tank. I am glad I did this way becasue it adds some depth to the tank. (and it gives a fine place to set my beer while oogling) I have just recently added my rock and have not aquascaped. The lighting is just the flourescent from the equip room.

On another note, I decided against having front access because I wanted silence in the viewing room and I wanted my trim to be mitered and clean. Since the tank is actually completely in the equip room I can reach both sides easily. I also will aquascape with low formations to give plenty of room for reaching to the front. I have no problem reaching the front now but only time will tell how much I will really miss front access. I had already framed this in before i saw another build thread with a piano hinge front trim and hidden joints. I may have tried it this way but I night have had to use to thick of trim for my liking.

Yeah I am kind of thinking of going with a hiding hinged out acsess door from the livinr room side and a full pull out door that I might make the lighting rack slide out of the way also.

Thanks For all the input and I am still looking for more. Thanks Guys
