In wall tank stand 40"-42" high?

Any one have an in-wall that is 40-42 inches off the ground. I would like to see some pictures of it. Any pros or cons? Thanks

That sounds a little tall to me. My inwall is about 34" tall.
To me, that is perfect for office chair viewing.

What size tank are you using? The higher the less stable?

Taller will allow easier access to the sump!

Ultimately, I would build it to suit the viewing chair!

It is for a 210. The tank will be across from my bar, so the bar stools are 32" high I believe. I just don't like having to bend over when looking into the tank. Also less little finger prints on the tank. I think I may go with the 40".

I sprayed pond foam on the back wall and overflow boxes, it's now getting covered with CA and will blend in nicely with the LR

best prices I found were at www.foampower.com I used about 14 cans to cover the entire back wall and overflow boxes. Actually, I cut 1/8" acrylic sheets that could fit in the top lid openings that pieced together to cover the back wall. I foamed each piece then spot glued them with silicone to the back wall, leaving about an inch all the way around. Then after each acrylic piece was glued to the back wall I foamed the perimeters and the overflows to wedge them in place. Otherwise, due to their boyancy, they would peel away and float. Be sure to wear latex gloves, the foam is really sticky and won't come off your hands easily. Avoid direct sun for curing as it turns it green. Some RCers have mixed in crushed coral/rock by covering the foam with epoxy and sprinking in the cc/rock, looks nice as well.

I've decided that the best height measurement is not the stand but the top of the view panel. For example, my tank is viewed standing or sitting on bar stools. I measured the "eye height" for both myself and my wife. I wanted the tank to be viewed directly, not looking up or down, so I made the stand tall enough to make the top of the view panel "eye height".

So my answer to you question is: EH-TH=SH where EH= Eye Height, TH=Tank Height and SH=Stand Height.

If your eyes are 60" at view and your tank is 28" tall, I'd make the stand 32" tall. Bottom line is that you can't get the perfect height unless you can control the way in which the tank is viewed (standing vs sitting).

We've recently sold our house so I'm in the process of building a 41" high stand for my 60 cube. I figure that would be a good height to standing and sitting viewing. Probably would be to high if you were sitting right next to it though. Only thing I'm concerned with is getting into the tank when need be.

I have a 40in stand on my tank and I build a stand on the back side to gain access. I love the openness of the stand but I need a ladder to get in the tank. I am building a new 30 deep tank on a 42in stand. So I am going to need one of those little giant ladders to get in it.

keep in mind that the heights may depend on how deep your tank is. I want to build a tank 96 x 48 x 28. but I am limited by the door size. I can only get a stand that is 36" tall. unless I build it in the House. Just one more thing to think about.
