In Wall tanks have a question?

Ok I'm sitting up a 210 in wall. I will have access to the tank from behind but I would like to have access to the front also from the top because it will be very hard to get to anything in the front of this tank from the back its 30" deep. Does anyone have any pics of there setup on what you did maybe some cabinet doors or just any ideas would be great.

Also anything you would do differently sitting up an in-wall tank if you could do it again?

Two tanks that impressed me went about this two different ways...

one reefers had a piano hinge attached to a large piece of crown molding that would just flip up and he could acces his lights and the front of the tank.

The other attached the larger crown molding to the front of industrial slides that his light reack was also attached too... so he could slide the whole thing out....I'll see if i can find these threads and link them for ya... but maybe the guys who did this will show up first

I have the same setup. Mine isn't the easiest to get into. I have cabinet doors above that give me good access to the lights, but the tall cross bar doesn't allow me to get into the tank.

I did have the cross bar put in with pocket screws instead of glue so that if I did need to get to the front for some reason I could, but I would have to take that board out to do it.

I really haven't had any issues with just working from the back. Is it a bit of a pain in the butt? Sure. But using a pair of tongs, I haven't found anything yet that I couldn't do just from the back and I like a nice finished look to the front.

Here is a picture of the tank before it was enclosed.

And here are a couple of shots after it was enclosed

The sides, top and front open.

The top if attached with piano hinges and allows 28" access.

The side are attached with (4) hinges and allow 10", I need to suck my gut in..

The front is attached with counter sunk magnets and is complete removable. Giving me full access to all side of the system. And the light rack sides back so I can stand in the tank if needed...

Happy Reefing.

Since I didn't have any cabinetry, I went for a smooth wall. Aside from a small horizontal line, the above portion looks just like the surrounding walls. It is held closed by one of those hidden childproof magnet latches. (I don't have kids, I just didn't want to put a handle on it)

The lights push back or go straight up.

this my very favorite tank among all the ones i've seen so far (out of HUNDREDS!!!). nice job! :D do you have a build thread? (sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread :))

Thanks everyone for the great idea's. Does anyone have any thoughts on what you would do differently with an in-wall setup if u could do it over again?

here is the my 620, i made a couple light wieght panel that basically hang on a bracket designed for heavier pictures, very unnoticable and real easy to get into. Here is a shot of it before I made the access panels.
