Incredible Fishing Video - Brazil

They had one like it on Ameica's Funniest Home Videos... :) Sure does take the effort out of fishing...

Hey Randy,

I'm getting that fishing feeling (cabin fever), that's why I was on TWRA. Have you been out yet? I found my fly rods in the attic but unsure of their condition ~ definitely need new tippets. I'm trying to find out when the bug hatches happen on the clinch so I can hit you up for a fishing trip.

I know Dave A and Dave S also trout fish. I know (because I saw his boat in the garage) Chris fishes too but he's in new waters here in ETN. Anyone else fish regularly?

I need to charge up the batteries in the boat:)

I'll be up for a little exploring/fishing when late spring/summer gets here.

Chris

Heck no... Water's too cold for my Hawaiian blood... I don't want to freeze my kahones off... :D My boat has too deep of a draft to fly fish out of... I have a smaller jon boat that would do nicely... But I need to get a 5 or 10 hp motor... Hopefully by summer I'll get one...

Chris~ You ever fish the Caney Fork???

I allways wanted to but an hour drive to get to the Caney Fork before sunup just wasn't typically in the cards for me:rolleyes: From the people I have talked to the really good fishing there is before 8 or 9 when they are generating. I love to fish for basically anything but given the choice I will fish for bass(largemouth or smallmouth) most of the time. I typically opted for Percy Priest, Old Hickory or wading the harpeth river when I got the chance to fish in Midlle TN. I love stream fishing but I hear the streams up here are a little cooler:eek1:

Chris

Yeah, I loved fishing out there... I don't like the Clinch as much, but I guess I just don't know the river all that well yet... As far as bass go, I hear Dale Hollow beats the Caney Fork hands down... And if you make the trip out to the Emory river, you'll find some warmer water and pretty good smallmouth fishing... Besides which, its an AWESOME float, gorgeous scenery... Don't know if I'll buy a canoe or a small motor first... lol :D

Where's Citico at???

One of my clients raves about Tellico, though I've not made it down there... I should take Ashley camping down there sometime... :)

I've recently read that the muskie stocking in Melton Hill has matured and some keepers are even being caught (keeper being 44"). Heck, I'd love to catch anything over 2' in TN.http://www.tnfish.org/MuskyMeltonHillLakeTennessee_TWRA/TennesseeMuskyMeltonHillLake_TWRA.htm

I always fished Loudon and Melton Hill when I had my boat. Loudon was consistant with <12" largemouth, Melton was closest to my house and required Norris to be generating to have much of a bite. The few times I fished Telico I really liked it; just enough stained water so as to not spook the fish unlike Norris where you had to go to stealth mode. The reason I've taken the last few years off fishing is "the early worm gets the fish" and I got unmotivated to get up at 4-5am to catch and release a dozen 6-12" bass.

Last thing, Topwater night fishing for Walley on Norris during the april and may full moon is pretty cool (pretty cold too).

I noticed the Melton Hill musky fishery in the paper and that sounds very interesting. I have allways wanted to catch a musky.
I have also pretty much figured I would be fishing Loudon a lot when I get the chance. It's close and the bass fishing is supposed to be good. It's very similar to Old Hickory in Mid TN. Basically a river run impoundment that's fertile and has a lot of cover/structure. I'm guessing it has a lot of grassbeds as well and those are my favorite:)
Chris

They used to catch Muskey all the time up in Morgan Co. on the Emory... My barber had a 5' beast on the wall... Of course those guys are pretty secretive about where they fish... ;) But I'm always leary about something you have to beat to death before you drag it into the boat... Either that or risk losing a finger... :D Have you seen the teeth on them suckers???? :eek1:

No (or very little) grass in ETN TVA empoundments, Chris. Water level changes too often and drastic with TVA's drawdowns. You've gotta make some trips on the water before they raise the levels so you can see the cover that is underwater during summer levels. Norris, Cherokee and Douglas are quite the sight during winter levels vs summer levels.

Have you seen my avatar Randy:p

Of course I was an idiot to revive that thing....I promised the wife never again:rolleyes:

Ft Loudon doesn't have any grass? I know Norris is pretty devoid and hard to fish and I know Cherokee is pretty rocky(I've heard there is some good fishing up there though). They lower the lakes around Nashvegas to winter pool as well and still have plenty of grass when the levels come back up. I guess wood and substrate changes will have to do for me then.....I'm not very good when I get out of shallow water:rolleyes:

....and not great by any means even then

Chris

I don't think I'd get close to that thing without shooting it in the head first... :D You're a braver man than I am Chris!!!

I think the word is foolish...not brave:)

Funny thing is I revived it twice after letting it go the first time. All the locals wanted me to kill it and I was on one of my "if I'm not going to eat it I'm not going to kill it trips"

...the wife, the sane one, was siding with the locals.
