Indo Lord starting to recede and come loose :(

Had this indo lord for about 6 months, just noticed that two of the polyps started to recede and show skeleton. Also noticed when i used a turkey baster to blast them, they were actually coming off loose :(

Any one experienced this before? I also noticed that some of the skeleton showing is a redish/purple color to it. Not if this makes any difference but could it be some type of disease? All other lords are doing well.

Thanks for your feedback,
Steven

I just fragged the two polyps that were loose. So far the remaining polyps look better. Keep my fingers crossed.

thqt was a good idea,
you should try to frag off the effected area, in an effort to prevent spreading, of whatever it is.

I have experienced this too. The polyps eventually break free from the skeleton. They floated around my aquarium for months. I tried to glue them down, but they slimed up and got loose. The polyps might have survived if they could have settled down somewhere.

It's an interesting observation you made with the red and purple color to the skeleton. I can also remember one of my floaters had purple color to the skeleton. I never thought it was an infection since the frag didn't grow for 6 months. I thought it was weak. But if it was so weak, then it would have just died and not have survived so long floating around the aquarium.

I had 4 different frags do this. They all came from the same person, and all lasted between 6-9 months before they started to peel off the skeleton. None of them showed any real growth.

Here is a picture, as you can see the tooths of the skeleton on the right side compare to the left is a pink/purple color. I originally thought itwas coraline, but how could that be possible when the flesh covers the skeleton.

I fragged of the two polyps on the right as much as possible. So far the remaining polyps are looking good. Only time will tell. This is the second time this has happen to me. First time was a Jap lord polyp, now the indo lords.

Put a cup around the loose polyp to prevent it from flowing around into corners where you can't get to by the flow. I've had the same thing happen, I managed to glue it back but eventually dies off. Strange creature, I think the Jap one commit suicide. :D

I believe that is "polyp bailout". the polyp just jumps ship LOL.

Anyway, check all your parameters - alc/calc/mg/pH/phosphate/salinity

I just found an old picture of a few polyps that left the skeleton. I was able to glue it on a rock after sitting on the sandbed for a couple months.
