Among the huge pile of junk I have in my shop, I have a pallet of 400W industrial metal halide fixture I picked up at an auction ages ago. (8 I think) They used to light a warehouse. Other than they are 3' tall, and they need bulbs, is there any difference between these and the aquarium MH set ups? They are the set ups that have a built in ballast and housing, and plug in to 110v.
Just curious if I can use them as temp lighting until I get a decent set up for me future tank... whenever it gets here.
