Infected Goniapora

I got a florescent yellow goniapora that has strange brown roots/algae growing out of it in random spots. When the roots get large enough the goniapora does not extend it's tentacles. I usually use tweezers to remove as much as possible but I can never eliminate it all and it just keeps coming back. But the coral does much better after I trim the roots back.

This coral is pretty rare to me and I don't want to loose it, would it be wise to frag the unaffected parts of the coral?

Any Ideas on what the heck this is?

I'll post pictures when the lights come on today.

Well, I can tell you that

#1 I cant tell what it is from the picture
#2 your Goniopora is not a happy camper
#3 it needs to be fed
#4 You need to talk to JenNKerry on here
#5 Its possible its bleached

Are these "roots" your speaking of growing, do they have something comming out of them like feathers or something?

We need to know more about this

In its current state of health, it would not be wise to frag it.
