Inferno and sunburst BTA, is there a difference?

Hi everybody, I was recently lucky enough to purchase this amazing anemone, the mouth is green, tentacles go from bright neon orange to yellow right at the tips. Upon asking the store owner, what BTA is this? His reply is red bubble tip, that's how I sell them, I'm not into fancy designer names. Ok, he made his point, ha ha. So I bought it, seeing potential as a beauty, brought it home acclimated it, i placed it in my small tank with 2 clowns. Oh my goodness was it ever beautiful, even better under my par 38 bulbs. Got to looking around online, I've come to the conclusion it's either a sunburst or inferno, but I can't tell the difference between the two, and at the end of the day it doesn't really matter cause I just adore the anemone but just out of curiosity, any opinions on what I have? I'm attaching a picture, bear with me, my photo skills are the worst!

Your seller is right is a RBTA if you want to put a fancy name to it I said it does resemble an inferno more than sunburst. Overall nice bubble tip hopefully you got him for a steal.

Haha location? I'll zip it right over. I'd like to think I got it for a deal, either way I'm happy that its in my tank. My husband thinks I'm nut by going over to the tank and checking up on it!

It looks more like the Sunburst to me. I have owned both. For me to call it a colorado sunburst and bring a $400+ price it would need to have lineage from a trusted source from the original in Colorado. To be an inferno and bring the high price it would be traceable back to Coralcollection. With that said I would have paid several hundred for that BTA given the colors and size. Many on this website think all RBTAs are the same, and technically they are correct, but for those of us who collect them colors are important. What makes this BTA special to me is the yellow tips. Those are much harder to find. Where I live until recently all LFSs sell brown and green corals. To get anything nice like your BTA required an online purchase with higher prices. It looks like a great find. I hope it does well for you.

Wow! That much???!!! I had no idea. I have no lineage background on this what so ever. That being said, what I do know that it is a clone, natural split rather than somebody cut it up, I was told the guy who brought it in, the mother splits 3-4 times a year, that he got the original 3 years ago. The one I have is about 4" across, a nice healthy size. So, I'm guessing that by paying 100 for it was a good deal. It truly didn't show it's colors until I got it into my tank at home and saw every stunning color, I was worried I spent too much for it. But I love it and money well spent and quite pleased with it. Thanks for the input and opinion, I will hopefully post a better picture in the next few days as it continues to settle in more.

Congrats on a very nice bta.I have seen sunburst that look just like the so called Colorado sunburst that sold for around$100.00.But there is always someone who will pay that crazy price for an
Anemone of any species.they are pretty and to common.

Just to try and show how uncommon the colors of your BTA are I challenge anyone to post a link to a sale of a BTA on the internet with strong yellow tips similar to the one in this thread for less than $200. Sounds like an easy challenge for a pretty common BTA. If posting links is against the rules then send the link PM and I will acknowledge it here. Finding pictures is easy with Google, but finding one for sale for $200 or less is not easy. Sorry if I am messing up your thread, but the goal was to show you what a good find you made.

Nope youre not ruining the thread at all! I actually like this idea, I found a bta that I thought had good potential, the lfs owner pretty much cared less what he was selling, and had it under some basic lights that barely showed what he really had there, so I took a chance I paid for it, I was pleased as punch when it got it under my led's and knew I had made a great purchase. if people want to post their great find on the thread, please be my guest!

Open and happy, this picture shows the true size of the anemone compared to the clowns, they are full grown pair, I have had them for two years and love their new "home" so much so that the black one has now taken to attacking hands. Silly Clowns!

A quick picture of it splitting!!!! I've had other anemones split on me before but behind rocks, or at night. This guy figured he would put on a show for me!

Now that I think of it..... Should I be concerned with my clowns with it while it recovers or just leave it be, I'd be in a real pickle if I had to pull it because it attached it's foot to a huge piece of base rock. Can/will the clowns hurt it while it recovers?

All in the colr but it can shift over tme, depending on light... Mine stayed yellow

I was actually worried that the clowns may hinder the healing process.... I'm pretty sure the split will probably travel around. One is crammed himself into a corner, I can't see how that would be appealing. Time will tell over the next while.
