Inflamed Gill / Single White Spot ?

My first post! I am new to the hobby and hoping someone with more experience will have some insight. The only contents include 2 black snowflake clownfish added 3-4 weeks ago. My tank is 6 months old. It is a 25g cube with a 25g cube sump. If I recall correctly, about 9lbs rock and 2.5in sand bed.

A couple days ago I notice a single white dot between my larger clowns pectoral fin and gill. I also noticed the gill seems to be inflamed on just this one side. When breathing, it looks like a clear/grey color pushing in and out of the slit where the gills are housed. It was definitely not like this for the first few weeks. It is still eating like a cow and acting fairly normal. No flashing or fin clamping, but sometimes swims like a maniac not really hosting its typical spot. Is it possible this could be an infection/disease or maybe early ich? I may be paranoid, but at least will receive some education. Wish I had better photos.

My nitrate/nitrite kit has just expired, so I'm not sure how accurate it is. Never reads much, but I have an oversized sump and very diligent on maintenance.

Temp: 79
pH: 7.78 (it was always on the low side, but stable)
Salinity: 1.025
Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: 0

Thanks to all who reply :)

I should also add this fish has always had stingy white poop (see second photo), however seems to eat the most when feeding. Until yesterday it was fed only APBreed TDO Chroma Boost pellets. Could be from all the high protein...

Anyone? Both of my clowns have a red hue under their skin most noticeable where they should be white (when the lights are off/observing them with a flashlight). Is all of this normal? I may be hypercritical, but don't want any deaths due to ignorance...
