is this some type of sponge growing around base?

should i remove sponge, if so, how?

will sponge stop the growth of new polyp's?

I would think that the sponge would slow the growth. Take outside of the water and brush it off or use a toothpick to get it off, its not much to worry about. I would suggest to scrub it though, you'll probably have faster growth

I think the sponge is more important to keep than the polyp in this case.
Beautiful pink!
I would leave it alone!
They are fine together anyway...

Grandis.

I have that exact same sponge. It started on a frag of zoas & I thought it was going to choke them out. They literally rose above it LOL. The sponge has taken off in a LOT of spots in my tank, and even made its way into my fuge.

I blew on the zoas so the sponge was visible.

The zoas (pic taken a couple weeks ago) are fine.

Should I just eliminate this sponge?

Let it run its course?

Is it easy to try to mange.?

I left mine alone. My zoas are fine. It's only growing in shaded areas (that area just happens to be shaded by zoas LOL).
