Ingve's Reef v2

Ingve's Reef v1 is history and I am building a new tank.

The old tank was a noisy old Percula 90 that I bought second hand. Info and pictures about the tank can be found here: http://ingve.no/reef/

I put an order in for a new tank today at my LFS. This will be an SPS tank.

Tank and stand:

Optiwhite glass in front and on the sides. Ordinary glass in the back. The stand will be glossy white.

Sump:

Chambers from right to left:
1. Water from tank (My Deltec APF 600 skimmer will also be placed here)
2. Refugium
3. Return chamber
4. Fresh water reservoir

I have thought long and hard about the height of the tank (45 cm / 18"). I think it is a bit low, but I decided to go with it anyway. My previous tank was higher and working with the coral was very difficult!

Comments about the height of the tank and the build in general are welcome

The tank will be delivered to me within 2 months and I will post updates regularly...

that's a pretty short tank, especially for the depth. i would want the height to be 21". it would still be shorter than a standard 120, and should be easily manageable if your canopy allows good access. if its going to be rimless with no canopy, you can get away with it being shorter and still looking good, but still 18" is pretty short.

This will be a rimless tank...

In a perfect world the tank would have completely different measurements, but unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I have to "fight" with two kids and a wife for space in the house...

I'll just have to do the best with what I've got! :)

My LFS had a sale yesterday! Bought a Seachem Pinnacle RO (200 l/day) and a "new" XR30w G2 so that I have to radions above the new tank.

Nice aquascape.

Thanks! I am keeping it simple. I am planning on having these three Aquaroche ceramics in the display tank and as much live rock as I can in the sump. I guess this is something many people do not agree with, but it has worked well for me in the past :)

Ecotech Marine equipment setup

Got my Ecotech Marine equipment setup tonight. The Reeflink and the EcoSmart Live give me complete control over my lights and pumps...pricy but worth it!

Up and running!

Up and running!

Finally the tank is up and running. The sump is still messy, but I will be working on it now that the tank is cycling.

I have about 13 kilos of live rock in the sump and 3 kilos of Florida Crushed Corals in the display tank.

Bought the first corals today

Bought the first corals today

I bought the first corals today from Dream Aquariums in Bergen, Norway. They will be held in the store until my tank cycle has finished.

Corals are pricy in Norway compared to other countries in europe and the US. The frags I bought today were 499 NOK (65 USD) a piece. The pictures are of the actual frags I bought:

Not much POP for close to $450US! Coral prices seem to be one of the few benefits of being in America. <--tongue in cheek...sorta.

Great build can't wait to see it stocked up. I like the idea of the ATO in the sump if I have room in mine I might have to do that when I setup my tank.

The stores that sell corals here in Norway blame shipping cost and very strict rules...not sure what to think. I usually swap frags with other people...but as I am starting with nothing once again I have to fork out some money on "starter corals" :)

I guess there's a couple of other good reasons to live in the US also...I would list Nascar as another ;)

I came up with this idea when designing the sump cause my wife was so tired of the buckets of RO water next to the old tank :p
